Procedure Timeline
Before Surgery
Before your procedure, you’ll need to fill your prescriptions and ensure your environment is comfortable and relaxing. Make sure you purchase any items you might need, such as snacks, bottled water, extra pillows, or towels. A friend or family member will need to drive you home after your BBL in Newport Beach. Bear in mind that you may have to schedule transportation for several weeks, as you won’t be able to sit on your rear end. Dr. Savalia will review your current medications and let you know if any need to be discontinued. Lastly, make sure you wear comfortable clothing that is easy to take on and off on the day of your appointment.
During Surgery
A Brazilian butt lift is usually performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia and involves three basic steps: Fat is extracted using liposuction from the lower back, hips, abdomen, thighs, or other areas; the harvested fat is purified and prepared for transfer to the buttocks; and finally, Dr. Savalia strategically injects the fat into specific areas of the buttocks to increase volume and improve shape. As some of the harvested fat cells may not survive the transfer, Dr. Savalia may inject a slightly greater amount of fat than needed to ensure your final results achieve your goals.
After surgery
Immediately after surgery, you’ll experience some minor swelling, tenderness, and bruising at both the injection sites and the donor regions where liposuction was performed. Temporary numbness may also occur. Once home, you can take brief walks to help promote proper circulation. Take care not to put direct pressure on the buttocks by sleeping on your side or your stomach. Dr. Savalia will provide detailed instructions to follow carefully.
During the first week of recovery, Dr. Savalia may advise that you wear a compression garment to help minimize swelling and reduce fluid retention. This garment may also help mitigate lower body discomfort. During this time, you should utilize a booty pillow to keep pressure off of your rear end. Lymphatic massage can help enhance your outcome and reduce the formation of scar tissue. You’ll attend a follow-up visit with Dr. Savalia to ensure your healing remains on track.
