With today’s med spa advances, you don’t need to go under the knife to enjoy beautifully smooth skin. Here are four non-surgical skincare options I recommend to help my patients enhance their overall appearance and reduce the look of wrinkles. These procedures are effective and fully customizable to meet your individual complexion needs.
1. BOTOX® Cosmetic
As the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment offered at my practice, BOTOX® can be an excellent solution for treating wrinkles on the face. This injectable treatment is a neurotoxin that naturally weakens the specific facial muscles that form wrinkles and creases. BOTOX® is ideal for treating dynamic wrinkles, such as crow’s feet and frown lines between the eyebrows.
2. Injectable Fillers
I offer my patients an extensive menu of the latest injectable fillers, such as JUVÉDERM®, BELOTERO®, Restylane®, Perlane® and RADIESSE®. These fillers can improve the appearance of deep wrinkles like laugh lines. For skin that has lost volume and firmness due to aging, dermal fillers can be an excellent way to give you a younger, more refreshed look.
3. Chemical Peels
A combination of the natural aging process and environmental factors such as sun exposure can cause your skin to appear rough and uneven. Chemical peels remove the topmost layers of dead and damaged cells to revealed a smoother complexion underneath. Peels can also treat fine lines, lighten age spots, improve the appearance of acne and acne scars and create an overall more balanced complexion.
Women often find that making the choice between silicone gel vs. saline breast implants to be the biggest challenge when it comes to breast augmentation. And, as if two options weren’t tough enough to choose between already, now there’s a third contender: form-stable highly cohesive silicone gel implants, more commonly known as gummy bear implants. Beyond their funny name, gummy bear implants are creating a lot of buzz, thanks to some key advantages they offer over other implants.
1. Natural Breast Shape
Gummy bear implants are anatomically shaped, so they’re thicker at the bottom and tapered towards the top, like a teardrop. This profile better mimics the natural contours of the breast compared to the standard round implants, making them popular for women who want the most natural-looking breast augmentation results possible.
2. No More Wrinkles
Saline implants are fully liquid and regular silicone gel implants have a texture that’s similar to jelly, but form-stable implants feel a lot more like the gummy bear candies that are responsible for the implants’ eponymous nickname. The thicker, more cohesive silicone gel is firmer than regular silicone implants, which means they’re much less susceptible to wrinkling, folding or rippling.
3. Organic Feel
From outer shell to cohesive gel, gummy bear implants are specifically designed to blend seamlessly with surrounding tissue in every respect. This makes form-stable implants ideal for my patients who have very little existing breast tissue, because additional tissue coverage over the implant isn’t as necessary for natural-feeling results. For this reason, I often recommend gummy bear implants for use in breast reconstruction, although of course they can deliver beautiful results in cosmetic breast augmentation as well.
Tuberous breasts are the result of a congenital deformity that occurs when the breast fails to develop properly during puberty. For women who feel embarrassed about a more tubular breast shape, breast augmentation can help restore a fuller, more spherical appearance to the breasts as long as the proper steps are taken.
1. Band Release
Tuberous breasts occur when a band of constrictive tissue develops at the base of the breasts, preventing them from expanding and growing into a typical mounded shape. During your breast augmentation, I can release the constrictive tissue, which will allow your breast to expand in order to accommodate the implant and create very natural looking breast augmentation results.
2. Tissue Expanders
Women with tuberous breasts usually have a limited amount of breast skin and tissue because of how the breast has formed. Patients who do not have enough tissue or skin to accommodate a breast implant initially may need to have tissue expanders placed for a period of time in order to create enough space for the implant.
As part of the augmentation surgery, I may recommend a mastopexy (breast lift) for some patients in order to lift the breast and reshape the existing tissue. The nipple can also be sized smaller if that’s one of your personal goals for surgery.
4. Choose Gummy Bear Implants
“Gummy bear” (form stable silicone) implants are a popular choice for tuberous breast patients because their texture closely resembles the feel of real breasts, and their firmer consistency forms an excellent foundation for a wider, rounder breast shape. Taking into consideration your size and build, I can help you choose the perfect implant size to best complement your figure.
